What is Health Coaching?
According to Wikipedia “Health Coaching is the use of evidence-based skillful conversation, clinical interventions and strategies to actively and safely engage client/patients in health behavior change.”
The Integrative Women’s Health Institute defines it as “Coaching is unlocking a woman’s potential to live a healthy, vibrant, and purposeful life as a whole feminine human being by her definition. Coaching is supporting her to transform with a full suite of resources and skills, rather than fixing her.”
Who is a Women’s Health Coach?
A women’s health coach is a trained professional who not only has been educated and trained on principles of health coaching but also on specifications of female physiology and its responses to environmental stressors and health challenges. Your Women’s Health Coach will help you achieve long lasting health behavioral changes that you need to reach your goals. On the healing pathway she is the one walking by your side, supporting you all the way.
Why do I need a Women’s Health Coach?
If you are a woman who has been facing some health challenges in your life wondering what to do to improve your health and to address the root cause of your condition, a Women’s Health Coach can be your partner to empower you to find those answers. If you are more interested in pursuing your own definition of health instead of the one dictated by society then a Women’s Health Coach can support you to reach that goal. This professional partnership between you and your Women’s Health Coach will aim to elicit your inner wisdom, creativity, and resources that you already have because the fundamental belief in health coaching is that “YOU” have the answers. Doesn’t it feel good to be the “expert” in a health care relationship for once!
What can I expect from a coaching session?
During a health coaching session, you will be given the opportunity to lead by sharing your health concerns without interruption from your health coach which creates a non-judgemental and safe space for your presence. Your Women’s Health Coach using proven skills will support you to visualize your ideal health situation, explore your deeply seated values and challenges, and to come up with your own reasonable goals to pursue and reach your vision. Upon deciding on your personal goals with the guidance and encouragement of your coach, you will break it further down into practical weekly action steps to take to reach those goals. Initially, your coach will be your accountability partner however as the coaching process continues, you will find and further develop your inner wisdom which will serve as your own personal motivator and cheerleader for years to come making you self reliable for accountability purposes.
How long will it take?
It all depends on you and your needs. I am offering two different Healing Packages. In Healing Package A, we will aim to complete the process in six months. Healing Package B affords you an open ended option after the first month, and it all depends on what your specific needs are and when you feel ready to continue your healing journey on your own.
