How have you been doing in this crazy world of ours? Feeling a little overwhelmed? Your fight or flight system working overtime? A lot of us are feeling this way these days. While we can’t control some stressful events happening around us, we can control one thing; our breath!! Ready? Let us try some “Mindful Breathing”.
Sit or lie down comfortably, imagine having a big balloon inside of you. Your chest is the small top part of the balloon and your belly is the large belly of the balloon. Gently place one hand on your chest and your other hand on your belly so you can feel the movements as they happen. Be mindful of your breath as it comes and goes. Take a deep breath in and feel your balloon filling under your hands, exhale and feel your balloon deflating. Make your exhalation longer than your inhalation for even better activation of your rest and digest system. Try ten of these Mindful Breaths at a time. This should help you feel a little more relaxed and centered.
